Bridgwater Tidal Barrier Scheme public consultation

We have been working with The Environment Agency and Sedgemoor District Council to develop proposals to reduce the risk of flooding in Bridgwater and the surrounding area

The construction of a tidal barrier at Bridgwater is a key component of the 20 Year Flood Action Plan for the area.

Following the 2014 flooding The Environment Agency have been developing proposals and securing funding for a flood barrier and improvements to other, downstream, flood defences.

The public consultation will be used to help make final refinements to the proposals. Comment are sought before 1 February 2019 on:

  • The details of the proposals for both the barrier and the downstream flood defences.
  • How the proposals may affect them, their land or business.
  • What additional improvements they would like to see delivered as priorities, in addition to the barrier and the downstream flood defences, subject to funding.
