Our design for Silvertown Tunnel gets the go ahead

A cross-river tunnel will be constructed under the River Thames from Silvertown in the north to the Greenwich Peninsula in the south.

We were commissioned by TfL to provide architectural, landscape and masterplanning design services in support of the Development Consent Order (DCO) application.
In close collaboration with the various engineering disciplines, we produced a set of illustrative designs for the buildings that define both the north and south tunnel portals. The north tunnel entrance sits in the context of a currently desolate but emerging area west of the Royal Docks, while the south portal sits on the edge of the Greenwich Peninsula Masterplan. It was important therefore to illustrate how our proposals would knit into their contexts, by carrying out local masterplan studies to demonstrate good integration of the infrastructure with its urban and community settings.
