Stratford Station Western Entrance

Inheriting a planning approved design by Hawkins/Brown for TfL, Fereday Pollard were appointed for the detail design and delivery stages by Taylor Woodrow/Bam Nuttal JV, and supported by Robert West/Civil and Structural Engineering and Fourway/Services Engineering.

A celebration of the groundbreaking for a new southwest entrance to Stratford Station, was conducted in June, with the Mayor of Newham and Peter Maxwell of the London Legacy Development Corporation in attendance.

A deceptively simple architectural intervention provides a supplementary ticket hall approached from a new area of public realm, designed to invite access to and from the soon-to-be-upgraded Carpenters Estate to the west, and beyond that, to the Olympic Park to the north. Extraordinary efforts have been required of all the team to negotiate and design around a dense network of sub-surface services that supply the existing station and supporting buildings. Thanks are also due to the team from Transport for London with whom we worked in a very collaborative manner to agree how best to respond to the emerging constraints whilst still remaining true to the spirit of the planning approved design..

Funded by the London Legacy Development Corporation, London Borough of Newham and Greater London Authority, the project has finally moved into the delivery stage and due for completion in early 2024.
