Reservoir Design

Masterplanning of two major new reservoirs – one in Cambridgeshire and one in Lincolnshire - to address extreme water scarcity in the South East of England and maximise their benefits and for local communities.

Clients

The delivery of the Fens Reservoir and Lincolnshire reservoirs represents a major investment in the country’s water resource infrastructure – unparalleled in the UK since the 1960s – and represent part of national response to the challenges of climate change. Together they will relieve the pressure on chalk streams, unlock development potential in the south-east and deliver environmental benefits.

Building on our work delivering Water Resources Design Principles, we have led a place-led approach to the development of the reservoir sites to integrate recreational facilities, improve biodiversity and facilitate access alongside the essential infrastructure for the project.

The emerging proposals will be published at a second round of public consultation in Spring 2024.

The masterplanning is being delivered in a joint venture between FPA and LDA Design working with a major consortium of consultancies including Mott MacDonald, Jacobs and Binnies.
